FAQ

*Who is included in the newborn session?
We have two types of newborn sessions available. One is exclusively for baby and the other is for baby plus the immediate family. If you are looking for a different option, feel free to ask us about it.

*What props are included in a newborn session?
A variety of props will be available for you to choose from when you come to the session. Some of them are also displayed in photos on our brochure and website. They include baskets, wraps, blankets, hats, headbands, and more. You are also welcome to bring your own, if you like. We suggest a soft, fuzzy blanket, if you have one. But we have plenty of options, if you don't.

*When is the best time to do a newborn session?
The best age for a newborn session is 10 days or younger. However, it is best to call long before that to make sure you get your appointment scheduled. Once the baby arrives, you will have a lot going on and spots will fill up quickly. So try to make the call at least 2 months before your due date.

*Where does the session take place?
Newborn sessions usually take place in our studio. That is where we will have the most options available to you for props. If you would like to do a session in you home, feel free to ask about that as well.

*How can I know what to expect?
We like to do a pre-consultation before each session. That allows us to be able to explain the whole process to our clients. You can ask questions and we'll learn more about your preferences. We love to chat with our customers prior to the session so that we can provide you with options and as much assistance as you need. We are happy to provide information on what to wear, what to bring, what products we offer and more.

*How long does a session usually take?
It depends on what kind of session you are choosing.  Maternity sessions with adults only, usually last about 30 minutes. Newborn sessions can take anywhere from 1-3 hours. Sessions for young children, (ages 1-6) usually last about 45 minutes. Combining any of the above, such as children and newborn, will likely add time to the session.

*Why is it so important to do newborn photos within the first week or two?
Newborns are best photographed at 10 days or younger for a few reasons. That is when they are at their tiniest and the most likely to be able to do those darling poses that are unique to newborns. Also, when babies are beyond this ideal age, they may not be able to fit into the props that we use. The point of newborn photos is to capture that newborn look, so we recommend photographing as early as possible.

*When should I have my maternity photos taken?
The best time to have maternity photos taken is often around 30 weeks. You can also have them done as much as two weeks before and two weeks after that. This time frame is a point where most mothers are visibly pregnant. It is also a time when moms-to-be have not gotten to a point where they are extremely tired or uncomfortable. We would caution against waiting too late in the pregnancy to prevent missing the opportunity, in case your little one decides to arrive early.
