Books and Bugs and Other Silly Things

My grandson has a pretty good collection of books. For about 3 years I read to him almost every night at bedtime. It was such a sweet time. We would pick out two or three books. He had some that were his favorites and he would ask for them over and over. I had some that were my favorites, too. We would snuggle and giggle as we read the stories together.

Recently he and our daughter moved away. (sniffle, sniffle) So I can't read to him like I used to. But books are a great way to connect with kids. I picked some that I knew were his favorites.

WARNING: I give The Book With No Pictures a rating of PG-4. That's because it has the word Boo Boo Butt in it. If your child hears it, he or she may be repeating this word in the grocery store, in church, at day care, and pretty much everywhere. Probably not every adult will fully appreciate the gross humor of a 4-year-old boy. So there is my disclaimer. But my grandson loves it!

John Lithgow does a phenomenal job of reading Oh The Places You'll Go. He rocks the audio version of this book. Just go buy it. The link is below.

I have posted several of our favorite children's books below. Scroll down to see them all. Maybe your child will enjoy them too. I want to hear from you. What books do you like to read to your child? What are their favorites?

Winter Baby Clothes

baby, boutique, newborn
Winter is upon us! We are immersed in the cold! Do you have what you need to keep your baby warm? I've put together a few snuggly, warm clothing options for the littles ones in your life. Be careful. These outfits are so cute and comfy, you may want to have them all!

There are a few pastel sleepers for newborns, some brown basics for toddlers, stylish little girl's fur boots and dress, a chenille hooded jacket, and more.

First, is this darling little Organic Teddy Conversion Gown in an Ecru color. The front snaps allow it to be either a gown or a longall. (See the insert photos for more detail.) Made by Kissy Kissy, it is 100% Organic Cotton. The long sleeves also convert to mitten cuffs that can cover baby's hands. And it has a darling little teddy bear applique with a bow embroidered on the front. This can be for boys or girls. This item was produced without harsh chemicals, bleaches, or dyes and using no toxins or synthetic fertilizers. It's both soft and charming.

Next is the Baby Blue Mega Dots Print Pant Set made of 100% Pima Cotton. It is a timeless, traditional design from Kissy Kissy. The top of this little girl's outfit has a shirred insert on the front, long sleeves, and snaps in the back. The neck and sleeves are trimmed with a decorative edge. This set has matching pants with an elastic waist band.

Check out this sweet little onesie in pink, also known as the baby body suit. It's made by Swaddle Designs, of 100% combed cotton knit. It has long sleeves, three little embroidered dots on the front and a round, envelope style neckline. (By the way, comment on this post if you know why many onesies have this style of neck opening with a lap shoulder neckline.) The snap closure at the bottom makes changing diapers easy.

Here are a few just for the boys. This sweater by Little English is a cream colored, knit pullover. It has three wooden buttons for closure and a tiny, red fire engine embroidered on the front. The neck, wrist bands, and waist band are cable rib knit.

This dark chocolate longall is corduroy, trimmed with baby blue piping and wooden buttons. It is also made by Little English and would look great paired with the cream sweater.

The brown corduroy overalls have an owl applique on the front. They close at the top with brown buttons. They also have a snap closure at the bottom for easy diaper changing. This set comes with a white, long sleeve, soft, knit shirt to wear underneath.

How cute is this Lilac Chenille Hooded Jacket by Angel Dear? It has a zip closure in the front, kangaroo pockets, banded sleeves and bottom. It's so soft, your little girl will want to sleep in it.

This Pink Needlecord Dress is adorable! It has 3/4 length sleeves with a ruffle at the bottom. The back is adorned with matching pink, baby buttons. The bodice is curved in the front and attached to the gathered skirt.

She'll be so posh wearing her Stylish Little Girl's Fur Boots made by Elegant Baby! They come in cream and a couple of other colors. A decorative satin ribbon bow is attached to the side of each furry boot. They have a comfortable, flexible sole. They coordinate perfectly with many other items, like the pink dress shown here, or the chenille jacket.

Last but not least is this Navy Polo Shirt by Little English. It has a two-button collar. The sleeves have a ribbed band. It is 100% cotton and machine washable.
