Christmas Pajamas

PJ's, Shirt

What will your kids wear on Christmas Morning?

If you are looking for some cute Christmas pajamas for the kiddos, here are some options for you. These are just a few of the adorable Christmas pajamas I found at Weiss Baby. They range in sizes from Newborn to 4T. These would look so great for Christmas Photos or just to wear on Christmas morning when your little toddlers are opening up the presents.

PJ pants

The red striped set is made by Three Sisters, of 100% soft cotton. The shirt is a button-up style with a collar, a cute little Santa applique on one side, and cuffed long sleeves. The pants in this set have an elastic waist for a comfortable fit and a cuffed hem at the bottom. The set is trimmed with green piping cord. This is the perfect combination of comfort and style.

The pajamas in the middle are a cozy, green striped set made by Blanks Boutique. They are made with fabric that combines cotton and spandex to create a bit of stretch for extra comfort. The shirt has a red crew neck and red banded cuffs on the sleeves. The pants have an elasticized waistband and red banded cuffs on the bottom.

And who could miss those beautiful polka dots in the third set? These are also made by Blanks Boutique. They consist of a cotton/spandex blend of stretch knit comfort. The shirt has red polka dots and a green crew neck with green banded cuffs on the sleeves. The red polka dotted pants have an elastic waist and are also trimmed with green banded cuffs.

If you have two or three little darlings, you could shop for all of them in one trip to Weiss Baby, for their Christmas pjs. They are machine washable and oh so cute! Weiss Baby will also monogram any of your selections, which adds an even more personalized and adorable touch to your child's pjs.

Now all you need are the Christmas Cookies and milk!

Elkmont in April

In April, we packed up the RV and headed to Elkmont.
If you're not familiar with Elkmont, it's a beautiful region nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains with a campground in the center. I think if Howard and Linda Payne from RV Dreams were to visit this place, they would probably agree that it has the "it" factor.

We brought our 3-year-old grandson. He gets super excited whenever we go to the RV.
It doesn't even matter if it's moving or parked.

On the first day, I took him for a short walk. He was so excited, he couldn't stay on the path. He was darting here and dashing there, attempting to climb everything in site. We found a little stream and stopped there for a few minutes. I took his shoes off and let him stick his toe in. He giggled. The water was ice cold. So he couldn't stand it for longer than just a minute. We eventually made it down to the river. He was fascinated by the fast moving water. Then we started to head back for dinner, again making sure to scale every single rock along the way.

He loved jumping on and off the rocks. While I loved watching him have fun, I was also a little nervous that he would miss and end up with a smashed lip. He would stand on top of a rock and shout, "To minfinity and beyond!"

On the 2nd day, we went out to see if we could get a few photographs, which can be tricky with a toddler. So I packed a few gummy bears for bribes, put them in a resealable bag, and stuffed them in my pocket. We spotted a rock in the middle of the stream and decided that if we could get to it, it would make a great photo. Emory and I started to make our way out to the rock. We teetered and tottered. I held Emory's hand while we carefully stepped from one rock to the next, out over the water, while trying not to fall in.

Ok, one of us was trying not to fall in.  At his age, and with all the excitement he was harboring, he was practically swinging from my hand. Every once in a while I would tell him to put both feet on this rock or that one. A couple of times I felt the rock wiggle beneath my feet. I was trying to stay dry, but Emory was on an adventure. We got to the rock and sat down. We started saying silly nonsense things to Grandpa, like banana glasses. He thought it was hysterical, which made for some great images where he was laughing. Of course, he earned a few gummies for his cooperation.

As we started to head back across the rocks, I tried again to balance myself and a wiggly 3-year-old on each rock. That's when I dropped the bag of gummies in the water. I couldn't pick them up because I was holding on to a little wild boy. Eventually I got him to a sturdy rock and grabbed the bag. They seemed fine.
Shhh, don't tell anybody that we ate gummies that were dropped in the river.

We hopped and jumped down to the next rock and the next.
The bigger the rock, the more excited he was to attempt to conquer it.

We did several walks while we were there. A three-year-old never seems to run out of energy. When he finally did get tired, I put him on my shoulders and he hummed a happy tune all the way back to our site.

In the evenings after dinner, he 'helped' pa outside.
Pa built a fire and we sat and relaxed a bit.

One day we went to a local restaurant to grab a bite to eat. Three Jimmys has great food, if you are ever in the area. At this point, it was past nap time and our toddler grandson was getting a little bit grumpy. So he complained when Pa broke a piece of his chicken tender. To get his mind off fussing I said, "Well, when the lady comes back you can ask her for a piece of tape or some glue and you can put it back together." We continued to eat and eventually the waitress came to our table. Sure enough, Emory says to her, "I need some tape." So then I had to explain to the waitress why he was asking her for tape.

Life with a three-year-old...
I love that little guy.

This Amazing Life

Recently I photographed a beautiful baby girl. Her mother is so sweet and we had such fun creating these images together. We laughed at her baby's expressions and her cute little reindeer hat. We talked about how adorable she is and how fast she is growing. She fit perfectly in the tiny little sleigh, but it won't be long before she outgrows it.

I truly valued the time I got to spend with this new mom because I felt so connected to her. She truly gets how important this time is. Yes, there are a lot of things to do. But once time has slipped away, we don't get those moments back to spend with our little ones. They will soon grow up and be too big to cuddle any more.

I know that moms have a lot going on. Many are sleep deprived and tired. Many are scared. There are so many decisions to make about diapers and feedings and pacifiers. The list goes on and on. Many moms are trying to find balance between work and home life.

But my hope is that we don't forget to truly enjoy the time and the opportunities that we have. A newborn fits securely in mother's arms for a little while, but she will not be tiny forever. So if you have a newborn, be sure to snuggle up with her and cherish this grand occasion. These are such fleeting moments. Soak them up as much as you can before they pass you by. Take in those moments when it's just you and your baby. When the two of you get to be the main event. When you can kiss those tiny toes.

Yes, you still have to make decisions about schedules, and diapers, and bottles. And you'll get to that soon enough. But don't forget to really be fully present in the moment with your child. You are the most important person in her world. And she is the most important person in your world. Make sure she knows that. She needs you to be fully engaged. The dirty dishes can sit for a while. Occasionally, paper plates will do just fine. It isn't about perfection. It's about a beautiful life, a beautiful story.

I sensed that Becca really gets that, too. She just exudes delight for her newborn baby. I want to call out to new mothers everywhere and say don't ever let go of that feeling. It will be what carries you through the challenges. Enjoy those moments and be thankful for the time you have together.

I am thrilled to know this proud momma and her sweet, little bundle of joy. And I know that she is already an amazing mother. If you met her, I believe that she would tell you that this is an amazing journey. That her life will never be the same. That she has received a precious gift. That her child will teach her things that no one else can. That even with it's ups and downs, she will be forever grateful for this amazing life.

This little angel's name is Decker and she has Down Syndrome. It doesn't matter what she can and can't do. What matters is that she is loved and that she melts the heart of her mother and father. Her presence brings them delight and joy. And they cherish this precious gift.

I love the message in this video for expecting moms:
Dear future mom, don't be afraid. Your child will be able to do many things.

Yes, you may be scared. But you can do this. What you don't know, you will learn. It may be difficult. But it's so worth it. And there will be challenges. But there will also be unspeakable joy.

Welcome to motherhood!

Cherish this moment, this adventure, this amazing life!
